What is NERD?
NERD (National Electronic Register of Demobilized Students) is a digital record managed by the National Youth Service Corps.
It contains details of all graduates eligible for NYSC.
If your name is not on NERD, you cannot register for NYSC.
Who Needs NERD?
- Full-time graduates of Nigerian institutions
- Graduates of foreign institutions
- HND graduates (after IT)
- Part-time students → usually NOT eligible for NYSC, but may get exemption
Requirements for NERD Registration
Prepare these before starting:

- JAMB Admission Letter
- Matriculation Number

Step-by-Step NERD Registration Process
1. Admission Through JAMB
You must be admitted through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
No JAMB record = No NERD
2. School Uploads Your Details
Your institution must:
- Compile your graduation list
- Upload your details to NYSC portal
- Send your data to NYSC
You cannot do this yourself — your school handles it.
3. Verification by NYSC
The National Youth Service Corps will:
- Cross-check your details
- Confirm authenticity
- Approve your record
4. Upload to NERD Portal
Once approved:
- Your name is added to the NERD database
- You become eligible for NYSC registration
5. Confirm Your Name on NERD
Visit the official NYSC portal and:
- Check Senate List / NERD list
- Confirm your details are correct
6. Proceed to NYSC Registration
Once your name appears:
- Create NYSC account
- Register for mobilization
- Print call-up letter when released
