The Edo State House of Assembly Service Commission has withdrawn employment letters earlier issued to 324 individuals, declaring the exercise invalid.

This development was disclosed in a statement released on Wednesday in Benin and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The statement was jointly signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Sir Ezehi Igbas, and its Secretary, Isoken Nehi-Olotu.
According to the Commission, the issuance of the employment letters was “unauthorised, illegal, and unlawful,” rendering them null and void with no legal effect. The Commission expressed regret over the incident and apologised to all affected individuals for any inconvenience caused.
Meanwhile, the Edo State House of Assembly has summoned the lawmaker representing Egor Constituency, Mrs Natasha Irobosa, over actions lawmakers say could bring the House into disrepute.

The summons was issued during plenary on Tuesday following the circulation of videos featuring the legislator, who is married to popular musician Innocent “2Baba” Idibia. The videos, which have gone viral on social media, allegedly show her in conduct considered unbecoming of a member of the Assembly.
Speaking on the matter, the Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku, directed Mrs Irobosa to appear before the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges within one week to respond to allegations of misconduct linked to her recent actions.
Agbebaku stressed that the Assembly could not ignore the impact of the incident on public perception, noting that lawmakers are expected to uphold dignity and decorum at all times.
“Hon. Natasha Irobosa has been summoned to appear before the Ethics and Privileges Committee of the Assembly due to her recent conduct, which has been trending online. This behaviour drags the name of the House into the mud, and it is the responsibility of every member to conduct themselves properly,” he said.
The Speaker further described the Assembly as one made up of “cerebral minds” who must not be drawn into avoidable scandals, adding that the House would not tolerate any conduct that undermines its integrity.
The Ethics and Privileges Committee is expected to investigate the matter and submit its findings within two weeks.
Mrs Irobosa has been at the centre of public attention in recent days after a video surfaced showing a heated exchange between her and her husband, 2Baba, sparking widespread reactions and speculation across social media. Prior to her entry into politics, she was widely known for her association with the entertainment industry.
